Teacher Statements Against the AITSL Standards

Recently, a number of teachers have approached me for help with structuring, writing and refining the three page statements against the AITSL standards that are needed to apply for WA gov school jobs. These are teachers who are good at what they do and have excellent referees but they are not making it to interview stage no matter how many roles they apply for.

What I can do to help with these statements:

  • Take your current draft or completed statement and refine your writing into a cohesive, well-shaped story about you. This includes dividing your statement into clear sections
  • Ensure your examples and inclusions have clear links to the AITSL standards and that you are hitting each of the 27 statements at least once (preferably twice!)
  • Support you with clear structure, grammar and flow

What I don’t do:

  • Write your statement from scratch. This is not an authentic representation of your experience or your voice and you will still need to front up to an interview and talk to the statement. This means you will need a “first version” for us to develop together
  • Make up info for you. In my experience, there are always things you have done that you hadn’t thought to include and I will help you to identify these things and link to the standards
